MCAT/DAT Preparatory Program

Program Overview


The MCAT/DAT Preparatory Program was introduced in 1993 and has played a key role in the outstanding record of success of underrepresented students gaining acceptances into highly competitive medical/dental and other health professional schools. The primary purpose of the MCAT/DAT Preparatory Program is to provide ODASIS students with the tools they need to achieve competitive scores on the Medical College Admission Test/Dental Admission Test, thereby significantly enhancing their chances for acceptance into medical/dental school.

Program Description:

The MCAT/DAT Preparatory Program starts during the first week of October and ends in April prior to the MCAT/DAT. Students are provided intensive supplemental instruction in the key content areas of biology, chemistry, physics, as well as verbal and writing skills. The course is offered on Fridays from 3p.m. to 7 p.m. and on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Additionally, students are required to attend classes during spring break from 8 a.m. until 11 p.m.

Eligibility Requirements:

Students must be current or potential Access-Med Phase I students. If you are not eligible for the Access-Med program, you may be eligible for the MCAT/DAT Preparatory Program if:

 


There are NO EXCEPTIONS TO THESE RULES. However, if you are a transfer student, the criteria may differ for you based on the courses you have completed at your previous school. Please be certain to see an ODASIS advisor to determine your level of study and your qualifications for acceptance into MCAT/DAT Preparatory Program.

Application:

A complete application consists of:

  1. 1. Completed Student Information Form
  2. 2. Two essays
  3. 3. Unofficial transcript

 

Student applications for acceptance into the program are reviewed by a committee in August.
