Developmental Specialist for High School Programs

A little bit about Marilyn. She is a recent graduate of Rutgers University—New Brunswick, where she received her Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science and Engineering, with concentrations in Physical Metallurgy and Packaging Materials.

Although her academic and professional career is mainly STEM-focused, Marilyn has always enjoyed working with students as a mentor and teacher and has held multiple roles in these capacities, including tutoring for the Livingston Writing Center. She tutored not only undergraduates but also New Brunswick School district high school students enrolled in the AVID, BTE, and Saturday Scholars programs.

Later, she advised FHI 360’s National Institute for Work & Learning (NIWL) to advance Johnson & Johnson’s Bridge to Employment (BTE) program, including student learning, engagement, and retention on a global scale. Marilyn served on the BTE Global Youth Leadership Council and has experience designing and implementing youth engagement events, developing promotional materials, and providing instructional support and translation for multiple organizations.

She enjoys spending quality time with family, crocheting, and writing during her free time.

Marilyn believes in the importance of sharing stories to gain new perspectives and subsequently inspire and encourage others who may find themselves in similar circumstances. She is committed to supporting New Brunswick youth enrolled in the ODASIS programs throughout their academic journeys.
